Shake It Off is about not caring what other people say or think about you and 'shaking it off''. Taylor sings, "I go on to many dates, But I can't make 'em stay, At least that's what people say". It's true though. That is what so many people say. She then sings, "It's like I got this music, In my mind
Saying, "It's gonna be alright." Now I think she's referring to her music helping her get through these haters. She keeps moving, dancing, not caring.
'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off
Yess. That's so true Taylor. These people do exist and they're gonna do what they do and we can't stop it. There will always be people that don't like you or think badly of you. Why not shake it off? They don't matter anyway.
Honestly, despite the usual Taylor message and honesty, I don't like this song as much as a lot of her old songs. Although, I do admit, this song is very very catchy. I've got it stuck in my head right now. The players gonna play play play play play... Haha.
Anyway, I've decided to just list some of my favourite Taylor Swift songs by album. I've loved her music since I was 9 years old (when I saw the Hannah Montana movie) and she's actually played such a big part in my childhood. So here's some of her lovely songs you should listen to:
From Taylor Swift (self titled):
Mary's Song:
Okay, I swear this is the cutest song ever. I just wish there was a music video for it. I love Taylor's romantic love stories and fantasies. Seriously, listen to it and you'll love it too. Make sure you play close attention to the lyrics of this one. <3
From Fearless:
Love Story:
It's Romeo and Juliet with a happy ending. A little princess fairytale. We were both young when I first saw you. I close my eyes and the flashback starts. I'm standing there. On a balcony in summer air. God I love this song. Know all the lyrics. Fun fact, did you know she wrote this in half an hour?
You Belong With Me:
Omigosh this is my favourite of all time!!! This music video was wow and that guy from Hannah Montana the movie was there, and this got me fantasizing about having a cute neighbour. Haha. She wears short skirts. I wear t-shirts. She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers. I remember when I was 9, my friends and I were sitting in the car and we were just belting this song out on full volume. I still do that regularly. In the car, in the change rooms at school. Love you Taylor.
From Speak Now:
Mine:
As Taylor grows up so do her love stories...
The Story of Us:
I just love the beat, the music video and the concept. It's awkward cos the guy she used to be with is there. There's an elephant in the room and it's impossible to overlook. What do you do when this happens? The music video has some awesome dancing, a nerdy guy, a quirky little library and a story book snapped shut. The ending is great too. It's so true and relatable I guess.
Back to December:
Turns out freedom ain't nothing but missing you wishin I'd realised what I had when you were mine Fun fact, this slow lovely song was written about none other than Taylor Lautner. They could've had little Taylor children and a Taylor dog too!!! Did you know she actually sang this to him at an awards ceremony thing? Good on you Taylor. So this is me swallowing my pride standing in front of you saying I'm sorry for that night.
From Red:
Red:
Losing him was blue like I've never known. Missing him was dark grey all alone. Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met. And loving him was red. I love how she uses colours to convey all the feelings she has. You know, Taylor is actually amazing at English and poetry. She probably got As for that back in school.
I Knew You Were Trouble:
Haha who doesn't love this song? I just remember always singing this to one of my friends because apparently she was 'trouble'. I also remember that goat adaption. Baa Baa Baa...
Yeah, so that was the evolution of me and Taylor Swift music. Another fun fact, you know how in her albums there are booklets with all the songs and lyrics, and there are random capital letters in the lyrics? Well, if you write all the capital letters per song down, it gives you a clue as to what the song really is about.Love love love Taylor. Go listen to more of her music if you haven't already. Stop being a hater that's gonna hate.
Love,
M
